Remind me never to avoid the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market for any length of time, because there are things there I just don’t see other places, such as long chunks of sugar cane
and this Malaysian fruit, rambutan.
So how do you eat rambutan?

Rambutan is easy to eat! While it looks like a funky velcro covered grape it’s actually very closely related to a lychi. You crack open/peel the covering and on the inside is a large globular fruit with a pit in the middle. Eat the fruit and spit out the pit. Make fuzzy finger covers with the furry skins……. They are delicious and are *much* more reasonably priced at BHFM and Super H than they are at any “Western” type grocery store – if you can even find them at all.
